Continue ShoppingOver the last few months, hundreds of thousands of people have made the shift to working at home and although they may have needed to come up with make shift solutions at the start of lockdown, they may now be looking for more permanent in-home solutions like home office cubicles. The world is way past the point of believing that work-from-home desks are just temporary setups—Fisher-Price even recently rolled out a Home Office set for kids because there seems to be some permanency to this situation. If you haven’t by now, it’s time to treat your living room workspace like the real deal by ensuring it’s comfortable and optimized for productivity.
Panasonic created a desk partition called Komoru that helps to offer some separation in a living space, since it can often be distracting to work in an open environment, especially if that place doubles as the home. The partition offers a semi-private space for work and it comes with a simple desk to support work at home. On the outside of the boards, there's even room to decorate the perforated surface.
The DIY desk partition is called Komoru, which, according to Spoon & Tamago, translates to mean “seclude oneself.” It promises about a meter square (10.8 square feet) of semi-private space and comes with a dark minimalist desk designed to fit harmoniously into any living room.
The Komoru desk is surrounded by a 120-centimeter (47.2-inch) double-sided perforated board wall that can be decorated to suit your personality, or the corporate facade you put up at back in the day. Panasonic designed the cubicle following its survey that revealed 70-percent of respondents wanted to continue working from home even after the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as its discovery that 50 percent have built their remote-working offices within their living rooms.
