New York City's iconic Metronome digital clock has been reprogrammed to countdown the time we have left to reverse climate change. Scientists predict we have a window of critical action that's about seven years long. This means that immediate action must be taken, otherwise the environmental damage will be irreversible.
The Metronome clock stands at 62 feet wide, features 15 digits and has remained an iconic piece of public art for the past 20 years. Normally, the clock counts the time to and from midnight, but is now on an eco-friendly mission to urge the public to stand up against climate change before it's too late.
Last week, when the clock was reprogrammed it read “The Earth has a deadline” before beginning the countdown.
